GREENE, Maine — Maine State Police say a Greene man survived after the farm tractor he was operating flipped, trapping him Saturday afternoon.

Police said Kenneth Bragdon, 42, was hauling trees when a tree he was dragging got snagged on another tree, causing the tractor to flip.

Troopers said Bragdon was trapped under the tractor for more than two hours in 15 degree temperatures until he was able to call a family member on his cellphone.

Rescue crews freed Bragdon and took him by helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

He is being treated for internal injuries.

Police said the chain being used to haul the logs was attached too high to the rear of the tractor and caused it to flip end over end.

I always keep my foot on the clutch when I'm pulling stuff through the woods, for this exact reason.

This is my greatest fear every time I drag something heavy with our old 8N. My left foot is always ready to stomp on the clutch pedal if things get sketchy!

Well, good thing he pulled through. He, I mean, not the log he was pulling. While I'm off-topic, have we got an ID on that tractor? Looks to be IH red or a close equivalent - could also be a baby Massey?

The transmission/gas tank kind of looks like an old Farmall The bar that raises/lowers the 3-point might be able help identify it, it looks like a unique method.

I know a couple of the baby Farmalls used a reverse-drive box for the PTO, because the driveline was normal-direction up until that point like a car... Apparently they didn't mind marching to the beat of their own drummer.
